Hot water and Dawn dishwashing liquid. You can use a scouring pad to help remove the grease.
If it’s really heavy duty, then use a small putty knife and gently scrape off as much as you can. Be careful not to bend the blades though.

We recently had to take apart our grandparents kitchen exhaust fan. I don’t think it had ever been cleaned! My husband used this stuff called “Greased Lightning” and sprayed it and allowed it to soak for awhile, then rinsed off. It did a pretty good job.

Wear gloves, and use about a gallon of hot water, a little detergent, and a cup of ammonia. If you are removing the fan
blade to clean it, soak about 5 min, then wash with a sponge or cloth, rinse, and dry.
(It also works on that exhaust fan filter cover)

f you know how to dismantle it then you can just clean it with soap and water. with a rug and a small brush (e.g. toothbrush)

of course dont wash the motor with water and soap. you can clean its motor with quick drying oil or penetrating oil and carefully brush it so that no magnetic wires are detached or cut

    good luck

theres this stuff made by CSC its called Solvo multi purpose cleaner and degreaser. its great for your task. its made special for degreasing and cleaning electric motors, its NON-FLAMMABLE and you don’t have to dismantle the fan, just spray it on let it set a few minutes until it air dries completely and its good as new! (You’ll want to put down some old towels to catch the gunk run off.)

be sure to have the fan OFF when you do this and keep OFF until it dries all the way.

in case you have trouble finding a store that carries it here’s a number for CSC: 1(800) 220-1CSC.
